What is Classical Jazz?
Classical Jazz is the fusion of the timeless international and beloved classical music styles from and several modern composers with the original American jazz art form. Jazz Radio Network is proud to present Classical Jazz Radio now heard worldwide on Classical Jazz Radio.
You will often hear jazz musicians say “Bach’s body of work is perfect jazz material”. And, we might add, not just Bach….
I was working in radio in Los Angeles during the 1960’s when I first discovered that artists like the Swingle Singers, Jacques Loussier and others were already creating swinging arrangements of Bach and other classical works. Beethoven, Handel, Vivaldi and Mozart, among others, have a perfect foundation in their structure for improvisational jazz artists to explore.
Even modern composers like Gershwin (1898-1937), Satie (1866-1925), Aaron Copland (1900-1990), Elmer Bernstein (1922-2004) and jazz legend, the late Dave Brubeck… had the musical creative instinct to compose original Classical Jazz scores that have become timeless in their listenability and forever popular in their appeal. Even more recently, Claude Bolling, born in Cannes, France in 1930, has composed and recorded many hours of original Classical Jazz all of which can now be heard on Classical Jazz Radio 24 hours a day. ~ Rich Germaine, Media Arts Institute, LLC
